Events For This Week!

We have several special days to look forward to and think about, this week.
First of all, today starts the beginning of Catholic Schools Week! When a lot of us think of Catholic schools, we picture angry nuns hitting children with rulers! But a lot has changed in Catholic schools since those days. If you're looking for a school for a child in your life, don't overlook your local Catholic school!
Also, this Thursday is Inspire Your Heart With Art Day! Plan to help the children in your life enrich their appreciation of art. You may want to visit an art museum, go to a concert, or read a book of poetry. But you may also want to get some art supplies and make your own art, grab some notebooks and pens and write your own stories, or put on your favorite CDs and dance to the music! On Thursday morning I will post some activity ideas for the special day.
Next, Friday is National Give Kids A Smile Day! This is a day to help children and parents become aware of the importance of dental health. Many communities will be hosting events where dental supplies and other goodies will be given out, especially to children from low-imcome homes. On Friday I'll post some links for fun dental health activities to do with the kids in your life!
Then, Saturday is National Teach Your Daughter To Volunteer Day! (Although I think it should be "Teach All Children To Volunteer Day!") What a great day to start a volunteer project with the children in your life. To look for family-friendly volunteer opportunities in your community, check out VolunteerMatch, 1-800-Volunteer, or Network For Good. These sites have search engines where you can enter your zip code or the name of your city, and specify that you want opportunities where your children would be welcome to accompany you. On Saturday, I'll post stories about children who have done volunteer work!
Its going to be a great week!
